PRESENTATIONS
9.30: Choosing Pleasure Not Happiness: A Choice Theory approach to Addictive Behaviours: Dr. Glasser made the distinction between people choosing behaviours that give them pleasure rather than those that give happiness. We are all open to that choice, whether it is with drugs, with shopping, with co-dependency, with other addictive behaviours. In this presentation, Norah Finn will share her wide experience of working with addiction, and how we can help ourselves to move to more need-satisfying behaviours.
11.30: Self Care: The Choice Theory Insight: In this presentation, Norah will engage her audience in an interactive engagement with ways to use Dr Glasser’s ideas to move away from stress and to move towards a positive life experience. She will look at self-care in work, and in our relationships, especially our relationship with ourselves.
Presenter: Norah Finn, MIACP; Faculty Instructor, WGII: Norah is an experienced Family Systemic Therapist and Holistic Therapist, and the founder of the Alethea Holistic and Healing Services in Dublin. She is a Faculty Instructor with WGII.

Presenter: Alan White, RTC:Alan is a secondary school teacher in Bishopstown Community School in Cork. He is the developer of the “Choices” programme which helps young people with their mental wellbeing choices. He is on the WGII National Executive Committee.
2.30: The Challenges of Choice: Changing – the process of making new choices – is not always easy! He will also outline a number of strategies that we can offer to those engaged in making difficult choices.
