At this meeting on March 21, 2023, we will be continuing the discussion about the possible changes to the WGI certification process. We are attempting to update to include synchronistic Zoom training, as well as some approved asynchronistic online training. The plan is to hear the voices of our faculty and what they believe would be best. There are about 16 points where there is disagreement. Our goal is to create at least three options for each point and later, there will be a survey where all faculty can vote for the option they prefer. If you have any input into this topic, please plan to make at least one of the meetings as we want everyone to hear input on all sides of the issue before making a decision. For example, we have some who think our certification training takes too long and we have others who believe it isn’t long enough. Whatever your position is, it would be good to hear opposing views and their rationale so you can make informed decisions on the survey. There will be two options, one at 1300 UTC and the other at 2100 UTC. Please register so you can get the Zoom information. You will also need to register if you want the recordings in your absence. Thank you and we look forward to all our faculty participating.

About WGI Professional Development/Continuing Education for Faculty

Goals:

That is what the Training Committee wants to do—create a safe environment for faculty to learn and grown in. We want to help enhance relationships between faculty, while sharing relevant information to expand understanding and integration. We will offer opportunities for discussion with colleagues on the new information that we hope will lead to questions that encourage curiosity and growth. Finally, we plan for you to have multiple takeaways in the form of practice or exploration activities.

We will be offering regular bi-monthly gatherings for faculty in two different time slots: 1300 and 2100 UTC, starting on February 24, 2022. You will be able to sign up for either session, which will be presented on Zoom.

Format:

Each session will begin with a welcome piece that includes time for general sharing and connecting. Then, a faculty-level speaker for the event will share some new information or perspectives for the faculty to ponder. Next, we will use small breakout rooms so the information can be discussed with a smaller, intimate group. Finally, the groups will summarize their discussions and ask questions that will lead to clarity and expansion of thinking. There will be a summary of takeaways and closure. It will be recorded and we will put the sessions on the website for your later viewing.

This is WGI’s gift to our faculty. We realize faculty is the life blood of the WGI. Without all of you, there would be no WGI. We want you to know much you are appreciated and we thought having these professional development/continuing education sessions would be a great way to give back to you.

If you plan to attend, please register by picking one of the time slots on the right. Once you do, you will be provided the Zoom information for the session you registered for and a link to a document you will want to read prior to the session.

We look forward to seeing you there.
