2330 UTC————————————————————–Bette Blance (New Zealand) – The Essence of Choice Theory
This presentation will explore a process that can be used in any training to synthesize information and develop a single statement that is the Essence of Choice Theory. It could also be the Essence of Reality Therapy, the Essence of Lead Management or the Essence of a Glasser Quality School. It requires negotiation with high level thinking using analysis, synthesis and evaluation. It is very useful for bringing all the concepts together to create a simple and encompassing idea at the completion of training while reviewing, recalling and discussing different aspects of the information that has been presented.

Bette BlanceBette, a passionate Kiwi from Aotearoa New Zealand, became a follower of Dr Glasser’s work after reading the book Schools Without Failure as a young teacher. Whether working as a school deputy principal, working with teacher education students at Griffith University, Australia, as an education consultant and a member of the William Glasser international Board, Bette has worked with these ideas to encourage schools to make the shift from external control practices to those based on Choice Theory psychology. Currently the Chair of the Glasser Quality School subcommittee of William Glasser International, Bette is working with principals, instructors, and schools aspiring to become a Glasser Quality School. Exciting stories of experiences on the journey are being shared as we learn the way in which schools are growing and learning when applying Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management in the school context.
